In 1909 the New South Wales Board for the Protection of Aborigines began its campaign of forcibly removing Indigenous children from their families and placing them as servants in white homes, destroying entire communities in the process. By the 1930s the First Nations people had begun to self-organize and protest against the discriminatory policies. The story of their struggle is told here through archival material, photos, and witness interviews.
